What are Futures?
Wine Futures, pioneered in Bordeaux, gives the opportunity for consumers to reserve their purchase of quality wines at a lower price than when released in the retail market. Because Stratus wines are limited in supply and have created a great following within the marketplace, Stratus has adopted a similar Futures model. The 2008 Stratus assemblage White and Red will be offered at a debut Futures price of $33 per bottle until October 31, 2011. A 25% deposit is required to secure a Futures order. The wines will continue to age in bottle before being released in the spring of 2012. Futures participants will benefit from a preferred release date of December 5, 2011.A Dynamic Partnership
“Futures for the Future” is a pre-release wine offering that will donate one dollar for each bottle sold throughout the Futures Program to the David Suzuki Foundation in support of their ‘Sustainability within a Generation’ initiative. The Foundation is a science-based Canadian environmental organization, working to protect the balance of nature and our quality of life, now and for future generations.“Futures for the Future” was launched at the winery in 2008 with personal comments made by CEO of the David Suzuki Foundation, Peter Robinson.
Environmental sustainability is a core value for all involved in the operation of Stratus. Since its inception, Stratus has taken considerable measures to reduce any negative impact its operations may have on the land. “The partnership with the David Suzuki Foundation is a natural fit for us, comments Director of Hospitality and Retail, Suzanne Janke. “As a premium wine producer, we are acutely aware that the future of our wine and food culture is dependent on the future of our planet.”
Winemaker J-L Groux says, “our approach of low-yields, handpicking and hand-sorting coupled with the art of assemblage allows for consistency in our wines each and every year. With each vintage we are able to achieve layers of complexity that typify the diversity of the Stratus Vineyard.”
