LEED Certified

In recognition of our commitment to sustainability, Stratus became the first building in Canada to receive LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the Canada Green Building Council and the first winery worldwide to fully achieve this designation.

To qualify for LEED® certification, the winery met numerous criteria for reducing its impact on the environment both during construction and on a permanent, operating basis:

• geoexchange technology to heat and cool the building;
• a design that features a high percentage of recycled materials;
• resource and energy-efficient mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems;
• a comprehensive waste management program;
• and a landscape plan that is organic and based on indigenous and adaptive grasses and plants.
