With the arrival of the holidays and with all our grapes finally harvested, it’s time for some triumphant merriment!
We are thrilled to release the second vintage of Stratus Brut Nature | Artist Label Series. One hundred percent Chardonnay, unfiltered, and with zero dosage, this bottle of wine is a bubbly testament to our unwavering commitment to quality, to patience and to our love of design and art.
After six years of ageing on lees, the 2014 vintage is both bright and luscious. Playful yet comforting aromas of baked green apple, browned butter and grated nutmeg emphasize the layered flavours of freshly squeezed lemon, shortbread and frangipane tartlette. The fine bubbles and spritely acidity allow the fruit to sparkle, while the unfiltered lees creates a concentrated, rounded texture with a slight haze in the glass.
The ethereal label was painted by Saskatoon artist, Marie Lannoo. Entitled ‘Winter Blue’, Lannoo focuses on the physics of light enabling the perception of colour through paint. Her work will be familiar to those who have visited the winery, as two of her paintings hang in our Vineyard Tasting Room. This piece was selected as the vivid but soft blue core, framed by complementary layers of colour seemed to echo the vivacity, texture and mystery of the Brut Nature.
