PRINT

An intense red colour with some purple. Rich and intense aromatics of ripe fruit, cassis, raspberry, spices and herbs, chocolate, earth, cloves, and toasted oak. Young tannins and a grippy mouthfeel, with good acidity backbone and long finish. (January 26, 2005)

Growing Conditions

A relatively warm early spring led to an early budbreak in the vineyard followed by a cool start to the summer. A hot and dry mid-summer allowed for the vines to make up for the poor start to the season. The harvest was warm despite some rain in the early fall. The risk of frost in late fall led to an earlier-than-anticipated harvest for most varieties giving them well-balanced flavour, tannin, and acidity.
