2007 is a vintage that is on record as one of the very best for Niagara reds. Aged for almost two years in 88% new French barrels, Stratus Red has evolved into a classic example from this stellar vintage. The nose is juicy but savoury, with nuances of bramble, blackberry, clove, and anise. There is an unmistakable elegance on the palate with fine, mature, dusty tannins leading to a persistent and unforgettable finish.

Growing Conditions

2007 will be recorded by most as excellent though it is important to remember that not all grape varieties benefit from a hot, long, growing season. Bud-break was frost-free and flowering occurred under ideal calm. The summer and fall were seasonably warm and dry allowing for clean fruit and above average ripeness levels.
