The nose is one of crunchy red fruit, smoke and cracked white peppercorns with the cool climate Syrah component (rotundone) certainly coming to the fore aromatically. The palate is rousing with pronounced and vibrant acidity. After ageing for just under two years in French cooperage, the red fruit, spice and oak notes are integrating nicely. The wine exhibits considerable finesse and demands the same in any food match.

Growing Conditions

J-L refers to the 2009 vintage as a wonderful but challenging year - one that is geared to the complex art of assemblage, judicious vineyard management and extremely low yields. 1.5 tonnes per acre were harvested on average.
