At Stratus, our vineyard’s voice is defined as much by the soils underfoot, as the shifting weather patterns above. Our Weather Report series is ever-changing – each wine, an individual snapshot of a growing season.

Crafter in the spirit of our Signature Stratus Red this is a fruit forward, accessible wine ready to drink now while the serious older sibling is in the cellar aging. Aromatically layered with fruit notes of red plum and cherry mixing with generous blackberry through the finish. Hints of cigar box and oak char weave in between this fruit adding a depth of complexity. A sipper for every occasion.

Growing Conditions

2014's growing season was a little slow off the mark, with a cold spring that delayed budbreak. Unseasonably cool in the summer, we had slow maturation of both whites and reds. The year was looking very favourable for fresh whites with cool-climate character, then a very warm September / October arrived to finally mature the reds. Picking very late in the fall rewarded us with fully ripe reds with beautiful acidity and red fruit character.
